PHONICS/SPELLING: We worked on long e digraphs. Next week will be long i digraphs. Reading/ELA: We continued talking about the main character of a story and how they respond throughout the story. We described the character, told about the challenge or goal, how they responded to the challenge or goal, and how they changed from the beginning of the story to the end of the story. We also focused on context clues- determining what a word means by using the other words around it. We finished up our fictional books in Guided Reading and will get ready to start non-fiction! WRITING: We finished up our narrative writing unit and are getting ready to begin informational writing in the 2nd 9 weeks of school! SCIENCE: Matter Matters! We started and finished our unit on Matter. Our field trip to Tellus on Wednesday was awesome! The trip was great, we had awesome behavior, and the kids learned so much. We will be starting our unit on Georgia's Beginning next week and learning about James Oglethorpe who founded this wonderful state! MATH: Money, Money, Money!!!! We have been counting dimes, nickels, and pennies. We also have been completing word problems with money in them. One strategy that they REALLY have had a lot of success with is by counting the dimes first, then nickels, and then the pennies. They have a good foundation of skip counting, so it has been easier for them to count by 10s, then 5s, then 1s. We will be continuing money next week and assessing their knowledge of counting money. Please work at home on this life skill! I hope you have an AMAZING weekend!! ~Mrs. Noblet
