What is coming next week? PHONICS/SPELLING: We worked on r-controlled words spelled -are, -air, -ear. Next week will be vowel diphthongs oy/oi. Reading/ELA: We have been reading information texts and discussing the key ideas and details from the text. Next week we will still be learning key ideas, details, and historical events. We read Creek non-fiction passages in our Social Studies Notebooks, will be reading Turkey non-fiction books, a Tomochichi biography, and other non-fiction passages. WRITING: We are finishing our animal research books and completed research on the main ideas of those chapters; i.e. diet, habitat, what they look like, fun facts, etc. We are in various stages of drafting, revising, and editing our non-fiction writing. Some students have published and we are going to share them next week! SOCIAL STUDIES: We learned about the Creek Indians, where they lived in Georgia, and how they lived. Next week we will finish the Creek tribe and then focus on Tomochichi and the creation of Georgia. MATH: In math, we learned about One and Two-Step Word Problems. We have been completing them daily in our morning work and now we will be using our math strategies to solve harder ones! We will be using our math strategies to solve thanksgiving themed word problems, i.e. We had 15 pumpkin pies and 18 apple pies for dessert. How many pies did we have in all? 26 turkeys were in the field. 8 ran away. How many turkeys are left? Add on for another step- Then, 3 more turkeys ran away. How many are left now? Earth Parent: On Thursday, we had an Earth Parent lesson about the leaves and the changing of the leaves! Thank you to Mrs. Tebault, Mrs. Tydings, and Mrs. Matricciani for coming in, reading to the class, and taking them on a Leaf Hunt!!! :) I hope you have a warm weekend!! ~Mrs. Noblet
