Important Dates to Remember! 10/15-10/18: Conference Week- Dismiss at 12:15 BOOK FAIR ALL WEEK! 10/26: Fall Festival 6-8:30 Upcoming Quizzes/Tests: 10/18: Spelling Test 10/19: James Oglethorpe Test, 5 a Day Spiral Review Quiz What did we do this week?? PHONICS/SPELLING: We worked on long i digraphs. Next week, we will be learning r-controlled -ar words. Reading/ELA: We finished up all of our end of the 9 weeks assessments this week in preparation for report cards and conferences. We started reading non-fiction books this week! We talked about features of non-fiction texts, books, articles, information, etc. In guided reading, we read about our famous Georgian, James Oglethorpe. WRITING: We are discussing features of non fiction texts, so we can begin writing informational papers this 9 weeks. SOCIAL STUDIES! We put on our historian hats and began our unit on Georgia's Beginning. We learned about James Oglethorpe who started Savannah and helped to create Georgia. We will continue him next week. MATH: We finished money, money, money!!!! We have been counting dimes, nickels, and pennies. We also have been completing word problems with money in them. We began learning about strategies for adding 2-digit numbers. We will continue with our strategies next week and the students can choose whatever strategy works for them to solve these problems.
