Wow!! What a busy couple of weeks! We celebrated Emmy and Colin as Star Students the past 2 weeks! We are not doing Star Student next week since it is a 4 day week!! Important Dates to Remember! 11/6: No School for Students 11/14: Thanksgiving Feast Day Upcoming Quizzes/Tests: 11/8: Spelling Test 11/5: Force and Motion Quiz What did we do this week?? PHONICS/SPELLING: We worked on r-controlled words with -er, -ir, and -ur. Reading/ELA: We have been reading information texts and discussing the key ideas and details from the text. We got to read all about pumpkins, fall, and our animals we are doing research on. We are focusing on going back into the paragraph or sentences to find the answers. WRITING: We started creating our Table of Contents of our animal research books and completed research on the main ideas of those chapters; i.e. diet, habitat, what they look like, fun facts, etc. We are in various stages of drafting, revising, and editing our non-fiction writing. SCIENCE: We continued our unit of force and motion. We learned about pushes, pulls, friction, motion, and energy. Next week, we will be talking about the Creek Native Americans. MATH: We focused on subtraction of 2 digit numbers. We learned various strategies to complete subtraction problems, and the students get to choose which strategy they like the best to use. Next week, we will start word problems with addition and subtraction. STEM: On Friday, we had a STEM tour. The kids were testing their cars powered by SAILS!
